Early Morning Coffee Written by Damon Ward Performed by Elisha Hobbs
Met a pretty pretty boy at the side of the road. He turned around and gave me a smile - oooh. He said now, come on girl don't you look so blue. I've got something in my pocket and I'm gonna help you. Yeah I'm gonna help you.
He pulled out a little book of poems and other things. He read just a few of them, then he smiled at me again. Some of them run home true, others I didn't understand. I didn't feel at all surprised when he reached out and squeezed my hand – oooh. He reached out and squeezed my hand.
And in his big blue eyes I could see there may be just a little truth in the words he said to me. And after he had read them all he turned around and said: I wanna share just one more thing now this is what he read. And this is what he said:
(Chorus) From the early morning coffee to the TV late at night in the heat of the moment caught out and stayed a freight. Good looks and money don't you hold on too tight. Cause the wind might just blow 'em all away. And the wind might just blow 'em all away.
I bent down kissed him on the mouth and started on my way, thinking lots about the boy and all he had to say. Deep deep down in my soul I knew his words were true. So I carried them in my hard and this is what I'm gonna do. Yeah this is what I'm gonna do:
(Chorus)
I had to let these good feelings take me away. I had no place to go, I had no place to stay. And I've been walking down that old road for a long long time. I guess you could say it's been a while since I've had a little peace of mind. I had a little peace of mind.
(Chorus)
