Fishing with Elvis Written and performed by Damon Ward
Yesterday I met Elvis at the Mapua Country Store. He said: Son, I just couldn't be Elvis anymore. I said: That's okay big American I'm going fishing today. You can come and join me - so he did - and we started on our way.
(Chorus) But who's gonna believe me when I tell 'em it was him? I spent the day on the river fishing with the king. Well I've caught some big ones. I've told some big ones too. But this time I swear I'm telling you the truth. He was not walking in Memphis. No. I was fishing with Elvis!
Finally hit the river at my favourite place. Elvis had a peaceful look on his big old Elvis face. We fished all day long under the willow trees. It's nothing out of the ordinary, just Elvis and me.
(Chorus)
Just as the big old sun slowly went down. I turned to call to Elvis: Elvis. But he was not around. I said there looking at the river where the big man had been. I knew by the fish on the bank it had not been a dream.
(Chorus)
I was fishing with Elvis.
Yesterday I met Elvis at the Mapua Country Store.
